Georgina Newson

I live in Mid Wales and tutor a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Patchwork and Appliqué for The Quilt Association.

I learnt to knit and sew as a small child, and grew up making all my own clothes. I learnt pattern cutting with City and Guilds and designed and sold knitwear and accessories.

My quilting began with traditional bed quilts and developed into art textiles. My main interest is surface design - print in many disciplines, applied colour, and both hand and machine stitching. I use screens, stencils and stamps to print, dyes, paints, Inktense, and threads to colour and add imagery, and I think. A lot about the intellectual and emotional content of my work.

I am a member of Cwilt Cymru, making work that reflects my highly personal experience of life in rural Wales.
